Four Seasons Hotel Firenze - Florence, Italy

The hotel is set just within the busy, north-eastern stretch of the ‘viali’, the avenues that circle old Florence, just a 15-minute walk from the Duomo. This will be a drawback for some, but in the summer, when the tourist crowds in Florence are at their very worst, the 11-acre garden is a blessedly cool retreat after a long, hot day’s sightseeing, and a complimentary shuttle bus runs between the hotel and the city centre. The church of Santa Croce is within a 10-minute walk, as is the colourful Sant’Ambrogio market.

The 116 individually decorated bedrooms lack nothing by way of comforts and amenities. Mostly done out in a fairly restrained Empire style, expect antique furniture and pictures, silks, velvets and brocades, thick carpets and huge, enveloping beds made up with fine white linens, feather duvets and the softest of pillows. Splendid marble bathrooms are supplied with products from Florentine bespoke perfumer Lorenzo Villoresi. We were blessed to spend our stay in the historical suite. Describable as a gateway to heaven.

The wide area of the whole property allows a lot of opportunities and increase the stay to the next level. Staff are professional yet charming and remember your name. This is a resort in the true sense of the word and outstanding facilities include a huge pool area with summer restaurant and bar, and the best hotel spa in Florence which uses Santa Maria Novella products. We consider the Palazzo Chapel with frescos by Giovanni Stradano to be the pinnacle of architecture.

The spa is housed in a separate building in the gardens. Inside this oasis are 10 treatment rooms with every type of treatment imaginable including, facials, body wraps, and massages. There are even special treatments for kids, teens, and brides-to-be. The fitness facilities are also excellent and quite large with TechnoGym equipment, free weights, and views of the gardens.

There are few places that will make you speechless. The Il Palagio, a one Michelin-star spot with seasonal treats and excellent wine is one of them. The menu makes the most of fresh, seasonal, local produce while at the same time teasing with flavour combinations and modern techniques.

~Zucchini, pepper mint, San Miniato saffron and onion~

~Risotto with tomatoes and ''pecorino di grotta'' cheese~

~Rabbit agnolotti, tomato emulsion, olives and bay leaf~

~Raspberry pie with lemon and thyme ice cream~

The Four Seasons never disappoints. After experiencing all the available services, one wrong word cannot be said. Despite the fact that the property is located in the heart of Italian Florence, your stay will be very relaxing and pleasant. First-class approach from the hotel staff and services, combined with dishes from il Palagio, will leave you with unforgettable memories with an Italian touch.
